House Tour: Laurie’s Contemporary Traditional Home
Laurie lives in Indianapolis with her husband (D), teenager daughter (Sloan), and 1-year old son (Cooper). She chronicles her life and the design her home on her blog, Laurie Jones Home. Laurie describes her style as “traditional yet modern” and “a bit country… or maybe it’s just an organic vibe.” She also has this to say about getting older: It’s about “being okay with not following what everyone else is doing. I love interior design, love knowing what the trends are but at 40, I don’t feel the need to make my home look like everyone else’s.” We couldn’t agree more. And now, the house tour…
Laurie added interest to her foyer by painting the entry piece a distressed green, and added height and light with a mirror and lamp. She also added elegance and interest with a dark door, wallpaper, and pattern on the rug and bench.
Her dining room transformation is fabulous! We love the textures she sprinkled throughout the room in the form of a white sheepskin rug, a burlap table runner, and a cowhide rug atop a bamboo rug. She mimicked the room’s earthy green tones from behind the hutch with plants, napkins and a beautiful wall hanging.
Her home office is furnished with pieces that Laurie refinished and painted herself.
We love how updated and organic her kitchen feels.
The addition of the fireplace surround and lighting fixture give the room a solid focal point.
Check out this fun yellow and gray nursery. What a cute idea to put a solar system above the crib!
This room is totally transformed with a new wall treatment, paint and a whole lot of function.
Thanks for having us tour your lovely home, Laurie!
